Has it really been 10 years?
I remember it all so well.
Oprah was on, and like always, she said something super inspiring.
“What would you do if you knew you couldn’t fail”.
But this one really got me. I had a desk job at the time and would spend all my time looking at wedding photographers websites. Not because I needed a photographer. I was already married. I just LOVED them. I loved the romance, I loved the beauty, the connection, the light, the color, the emotion. All of it. So I took a leap of faith and spent my hard earned money on a camera and two lenses. I soon realized it wasn’t the best gear, but I kept it and practiced like mad anyway before upgrading. I took photos of my niece at the park, random things in my home, I took my sister and her wedding dress to Arches National Park, I logged a lot of hours with that basic gear. After a few years and a few thousand hours of shooting, I realized that I was no longer looking at my fingers or even thinking about camera settings while shooting. My brain had made the connections and my camera was just an extension of my hand. It was now a reflex. My life changed.
Now here I am. Celebrating a 10 year anniversary and launch of my dream website.
Thank you Oprah!
